Our story
Our mission
“Guided by the belief that ‘whatever can go right, shall go right,’ MayMaysLaw is a gallery and creative community where independent artists can showcase and sell their work, connect, and support one another—creating opportunities to earn from their art. Through Warm Heads, Warm Hearts, MayMaysLaw also shares handmade warmth with people experiencing homelessness.”
Why MayMay makes things
MayMaysLaw grew from years of lived experience. I experienced homelessness and financial hardship, and I saw artist friends struggling to find opportunities and support too. I’m not shy about my hardships; they helped shape who I am. They also showed me how much warmth, comfort, and love can matter.
I started MayMaysLaw to share my art and create more opportunity for myself. As the idea grew, I wanted it to become a gallery and creative community where independent artists each have their own page to showcase and sell their work, connect with creators in different fields, and support one another. I imagine a place where artists can discover each other’s work, learn together, and feel welcome even when their ideas are still unfinished.
Warm Heads, Warm Hearts is a MayMaysLaw project that shares handmade warmth with people experiencing homelessness. It carries the same care I want the gallery to offer artists: warmth, comfort, and love. Guided by the belief that “whatever can go right, shall go right,” MayMaysLaw is built around the good people can create when they help one another.
The name
Many people know Murphy's Law: “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” MayMaysLaw was inspired by a different perspective. Life can be difficult. Artists face obstacles, setbacks, uncertainty, and struggle. Yet creativity continues to grow, communities continue to support one another, and people continue to help one another.
Instead of asking what can go wrong, MayMay asks: what can go right?
Whatever can go right, shall go right.
The mushroom
Our logo is a purple mushroom. It stands for growth, resilience, imagination and connection. Mushrooms thrive in unexpected places, and purple stands for imagination and individuality.
