Warm Heads, Warm Hearts
Warm Heads, Warm Hearts is a MayMaysLaw project that shares handmade warmth with people experiencing homelessness. It carries the same care I want the gallery to offer artists: warmth, comfort, and love.
Share warmth, comfort, creativity, and dignity with people experiencing homelessness through handmade donations and community art.
Outreach starts once a local partner tells us what they need. Until then, here is how you can help.
Offer items
Tell me what you would like to give and roughly how many. I hold offers until a partner confirms what it accepts, then I'll be in touch to arrange a hand-off at a partner location or an agreed public place.
Buy one, give one
When you buy a piece marked "Buy one, give one", I set aside one handmade item for Warm Heads, Warm Hearts.
Tell me when the first drive starts
One email when the first Warm Heads drive starts, and occasional updates. Reply to unsubscribe.
What we collect and give
- Crocheted hats, scarves, gloves and neck warmers
- Small framed art and prints
- Sketchbooks and journals
- Children's art kits
- Handwritten notes of encouragement
What we are working toward
- Warm handmade items during cold weather
- Art that brightens shelters and community spaces
- Care packages with personal notes
- Connecting local artists with service
- Building community through compassion
We plan to work with local partners who know what is needed right now, such as sizes, quantities and drop-off rules, so what we give is useful.
Are you an organization that needs help?
If you serve people experiencing homelessness and could use handmade hats, scarves, art or notes, tell us what you need and roughly how many. Nothing is listed on this site until we have talked with you and you have said it is fine.
